Creation Station: Sheltering Tree

Howdy Friends!!  Hope you're all having a great weekend.

The Creation Station is back this week to inspire you.  This week we are concentrating on the new set - Sheltering Tree and the Irresistibly Yours DSP from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.

Let's get this started with my sample from Irresistibly Yours....

There are so many great patterns in this paper pack - all with an embossed surface, which makes it perfect for coloring in any color you want.  This will coordinate with any project you're working on!

For my card today, I did something a little different.

I masked the sides of it off and then sponged on some Coastal Cabana and some Wild Wasabi inks in the strip.  When that dried, I stamped on the leaf image from Crazy About You with Aquamarine Chalk Ink.  I love how vibrant the leaves are!

The 'happy' is the Hello You thinlet, and then embossed with Smoky Slate.  This card is all about the shine!

I sponged some Daffodil Delight onto a strip of Whisper White.  Why?
I didn't want the full vibrancy of Daffodil Cardstock - this created a softer yellow. Finally I stamped Birthday on it with that same Aquamarine chalk ink.

Finished it off with a button....and done!

For my Sheltering Tree card....(excuse the bad color in the photos - I didn't get my cards done to use natural lighting!)  I started with a card base of Wild Wasabi....it doesn't look like it in this picture.

But it's really the tree that steals the show on this one....and it should right???

To create the tree was quite simple.  I stamped the trunk in Crumb Cake, then stamped the leaves in Wild Wasabi.  Simple, yes!

But I wanted to create a blue sky and green ground.  But I didn't want to muddy the tree and leaves! So....I cleaned my stamps REALLY good and then stamped both the trunk and the leaves in Versamark and heat embossed with clear powder.  This wasn't terribly hard to accomplish with the photopolymer stamps.

I was able to go over the top with Soft Sky and Wild Wasabi (very lightly and I didn't ink up the sponge, just used what was still on there)
To create the flowers, I used Rose Coral Chalk Ink right over the top of the embossing.  This was a test!  And it worked - just let it sit to dry for about 10 minutes.  It does not rub off the embossed area.  Pretty cool, eh?

Well....I hope I've inspired you today!  Now, it's time for you to travel along to the other talented Creation Station members to see how they can inspire you!  Just use the buttons below to continue on your way....

I love that strip of color on the first card! Way to thin out of the box!

Love the masked strip idea. Great thinking Jen.

Both are very pretty cards, but I especially love the sheltering tree. I like the idea of embossing it, because it's not the kind of stamp you usually think of embossing, but yours turned out so pretty.

So cool! Such great techniques for this post, Jen! I love the one stripe you masked off for the polka dot paper. So many great elements on that card!! And the Sheltering Tree card is sooooo beautiful!
