Petal Parade...minus the petals!

Let me be perfectly honest with you.  When I first saw the Petal Parade Stamp Set in the Sale-A-Bration catalog it didn't trip my trigger at all.  I was all over the Banner Blast set and matching punch.  I could see possibilities with it.

But, Petal Parade - I just couldn't imagine what I would ever create with it.  It wasn't calling my name.

But...things change.  I saw a card similar to the one I created here at Leadership Conference in Houston.  It opened my eyes to new possibilities.

And now....I love this set. In fact....I use it WAY more than Banner Blast.  Lots of options with this set.

I love the trendiness of the arrow/chevron image - I just needed to see the possibilities and then go with it.

Hope you like this one today! Have you played with this set yet?  If so, let me know what you love about it.....

Clean & Simple with Mosaic Madness....

I opted to try out a clean & simple card today.

This one was pretty quick to put together.  I kept my colors pretty neutral too -  Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Soft Suede ink and a touch of Pool Party.

I used one of the little stamps from Mosaic Madness and stamped it along a piece of Whisper White Card stock that I had die cut with the scallop portion of the Tasteful Trim die.

Then I layered on a piece of Pool Party that was embossed using the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder.

I tied up some Natural Chevron ribbon with Linen Thread and a button and attached it to the front.  Then stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Crumb Cake then popped it up on the front.

Added a couple of extra buttons and dripped on some Smooch Spritz.  DONE!

If you like this card, I'd like to hear it - let's have some comments!

Pretty Flowers! Spring? Flowers - let's hope so!

I'm back today with a sympathy card.  We've had quite a few friends and relatives that have lost loved ones here recently, and so I went on a spree of creating sympathy cards today.

I must say, I love the way this one turned out.

I had a couple of 4x4 pieces of Pool Party already cut and laying on my desk, so decided to do something with them.  I grabbed my new set - So Very Grateful and decided to use the floral image for this card, by heat embossing it with White Embossing Powder.  Then I took several markers to color in the image - Strawberry Slush, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Daffodil Delight, and Pear Pizzazz.

Then, I decided that the Pool Party piece needed to be backed up with something - so choose Basic Gray, in 4 x 5-1/4" - that meant I needed to trim down my Pool Party piece slightly - just a 1/8".  I added a bit of Strawberry Slush Ruffle trim to the bottom, and then part of a paper doily.

I embossed the bottom portion of the Basic Gray piece with Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, then adhered the Pool Party piece and finally, added some Pearls.

I just love the way the coloring appears with the White Embossing Powder....so pretty.

What do you think?

Feeling Better 'round here!

Hey!  I'm back again.  I think my house is finally healthy.  In two weeks, we've had 3 issues of the flu and one more nasty cold.  I've begun a regimen of Airborne for myself.  Seems to be working....I felt a cold coming on and zapped it!  I was not wanting another sinus infection and certainly didn't want the flu back.

This past weekend I had a Card Cafe Class - it was great to see some old friends again, and more fun to stamp with them too!  This is one of the cards we created.  Quick and easy - but with a great flair to it.

My next Card Cafe Class is March 15th - all are welcome.  I display 10 cards, and you can pick 5 to make for $10 (or free with an order).  You can also make the additional cards for $1.50 each.  Much better than those store bought varieties!

Sorry - that's all I've got for today.  I'll share the rest of the cards tho - don't worry!

Happy Day of LOVE! More Homemade Embossing Paste...

Are you feeling loved today?  Oh - you should!

It's Valentine's Day and someone loves you!

ME!

You've stuck with me thru my sporadic postings, and you keep coming back!  I love you for that!  It's time for me to devote some more time to this here blog - and that's my gift to you!  More inspiration, more designs, more ideas.....MORE POSTS!

Today's project was another we did at my Stamp Clubs this month - if you caught yesterday's post, you know that we worked with Embossing Paste this month.  But I figured out how to make my own - the frugal gal that I am.  (The recipe was posted yesterday for Homemade Embossing Paste)

This time we used the Hexagon Hive as a stencil and spread the embossing paste all over  - and a little helter skelter too!  I love the way this works out.  Perfect for that little bee image from Crazy Mixed Up Love.

Plus - these were super quick to make.  And the homemade embossing paste doesn't take all that long to dry.

What do you think?  Love it?  I do!

Stamp Club Project.....Baby, We've Grown!

Well.....hello there!  It's about time I checked in with you all again - huh???

You've heard the ol' saying: When it rains, it pours.  Right?  Well it's been pouring in my life lately.  I spent last week on the couch most of the week.  By the time I finally decided to go to the dr, I'd been sick for 5 days.  Should have gone the first time I wanted to.  I would have been sick for 3 less days!  Upper Respiratory and Sinus Infection.
So, I got some good antibiotics, and got back to work.  For a day.  Then, Alex got the stomach flu.  Lack of sleep, and lots of running up and down the steps trying to keep him happy and comfortable.
He was better by Saturday, and I headed out to vendor at a Scrapbooking crop.  By Sunday, he wasn't feeling great again - I think he over did it Saturday while I was gone.
Come Monday....it was a new week.  YEAH!
Took Aubrie to preschool on Tuesday only to find out that one of her classmates has Whooping Cough.  The whole class needed to be treated with antibiotics(even tho she's been vaccinated).  Took care of that.
Early Wednesday morning (like 3am early) she came to our room with a tummy ache.  Yep....another sick kid....
It's been the story of my month!  So much for bitter cold killing off germs.

Now....I'm making some time to post.....I've made quite a few cards lately, just no time to get onto the blog.

So HERE I AM!

This was a card that we created in my Stamp Clubs this month.  We worked with "embossing paste".  I put that in quotes for a reason.  I looked into purchasing embossing paste, but at $10 for a little bottle, I decided to see if there was an alternative.
There sure is an alternative!  And it was cheap and easy:

Homemade Embossing Paste

1/2 C baking soda
2 T. white school glue (I used Mod Podge)
1-2 T white acrylic paint
mix it up and store it in an airtight container....

We're talking about a mere 20 cents per jar??  Give or take.

Yes - the stuff I used on my card above isn't white.....just color it with some reinkers and you've got something different yet.

Easy and so fun.  But more than that - it adds such a great texture to the card.  And it's super trendy right now!

Did I mention that little bunny?  No - not yet?  Isn't she cute?  I stamped her (from Baby, We've Grown - Occasions Catalog) onto watercolor paper and colored her with Baked Brown Sugar and Strawberry Slush and an Aqua Painter.

Add a cute little banner and some frilly ribbon - and you've got yourself a great card!
