Makeover Monday Week 8

Sorry....I'm running terribly behind today!  So much to do, so little time.

I know you've been anxiously awaiting my Makeover Monday post today.  If you are new, this is a series where I take a card I've seen out in blogland that is NOT Stampin' Up! based and I turn it into a Stampin' Up! only card - mostly.  (I had to sneak in a button from my stash today b/c I couldn't find one that matched!)

Today's card comes from Lisa Johnson's Poppy Paperie blog.  Here is her card:

Here's mine:

If I wasn't in such a rush, I'd do a few things over....but it is what it is for today!  SORRY!  It's cute non-the-less.  I coulda pulled out the retired Good Egg set ( I think I still have it) and used that to be more egg-zact!  but I thought this lil' fella was pretty cute!

Okey doke - I gotta bolt.  In and out!

Come fly away....

Wouldn't we all like to make like a butterfly somedays???  To flutter so gracefully in the air - bringing a smile to those we pass by!

This was a little project that's been on the back burner for a while.  Guess what - I love how it turned out!  Dont' be sad tho - there is a lot of non-SU stuff going on here.  Are you okay with that???  But I did use a lot of SU stuff too.  Sometimes I just need to mix it up and have fun.

You know what else - this little project wasn't overly time consuming.  If I could have done it without interuptions, it would have probably taken  45 minutes - maybe less.  But, I have 3 kids hanging around and wanting a cup of milk, chocolate milk, and needing help in the potty....all day long!  SOOOOO.....this is really a quick project.

Let's break this down a bit, shall we?  The background is retired SU paper - which I miss dearly.  I like the current First Edition paper ok, but this DSP was much more interesting!  I added some tea stain ink around the edges and here and there in the center, which really got covered up in the end.  Layered on top of that is a doily that I cut with my Silhouette.  My Silhouette has been seeing a lot more action these days!  I think I really like their new cutting mats as it cuts thru the paper better than it used to.  Stampin' Up's paper is THICK (read: quality!) and the Silhouette wouldn't always cut all the way thru the paper.  Until they introduced the new mats.  Now I haven't had any issues.

Back to the doily - I also added some tea stain to it, to soften the bright white.  Then I smooched it with log cabin - I got a big blob os smooch under the left wing, but thankfully it's pretty well covered up.  I need smooch lessons.
Next, I cut a butterfly with my Silhouette, in black and stamped it all over with Whisper White ink using the Fresh Vintage stamp.  I really love how this turned out.  I layers a butterfly on top of it - cut with our Beautiful Butterfly die - non-SU paper.  I tied some Calypso Coral ruffly ribbon around her to represent antenae, and added the flowers.  Lastly, I tucked in a stamped Happiness sign and one of the train tickets (which I distressed) from the Attic Boutique side notes.
All in all, this was pretty easy - and it's a lovely work of art!

Guess what?  You can own this for yourself!  I've listed it over in my Etsy shop!  FYI - I will be adding a lot of things to my Etsy shop in the coming weeks, so be sure to check it out often!

Ta-Ta folks!  Have a great weekend!

Technical Tuesday cont'd....

So, yesterday I told you I'd be back with something I made with the Bride and Groom on a bike...here it is....not exactly what I had in mind.  But close.  I envisioned flowers flowing out of the basket, but the punch I wanted to use was just too big.    I thought the little button was sweet tho!  It's from the Twitterpated button collection in the mini.

I also came up with this one as a Save the Date type of card:

The inside says "...gonna get married!"  Perfect for Save the Date.  I'm going to cross my fingers that this is a stamp in real life.....Although, I can handle it digitally - it's so nice to be able to resize it when needed!

Technical Tuesday....

OMGoodness - did you check out the new MDS releases today????  They are awesome!  That On the Go Kit - perfect for me and my two little boys....but great for so much else too.  The papers in the Eggceptional Easter Templates - check out those cute little jelly beans!  HELLO!!!  how fun is THAT???  I'm a little partial to the zig-zag pattern...what's that called??? I'm at a loss here this morning....is it herringbone???  I dunno....anyway.  Ummmm...the adorable Wedding Wheels - I'm printing that puppy as we speak, err type....  Lastly, the baby announcememts - seriously - how easy?  My heart is racing....Let me go do something adorable with that wedding stamp and I'll be back to show ya later!  Nothing like keeping you on the edge of your seat right???

Makeover Monday Week 7!

Good Morning!  How was your weekend?  Mine was a whirlwind.  It feels good to actually be at home this morning!  Both Saturday and Sunday I was out the door a little before 8 - which is early to be heading out for me!  That's one of those perks of staying at home - ya know!!!  I do tho remember all to well what it was like to be leaving in the dark with 2 kids loaded up and heading to work - blech!

So this week - I perused my "cards" file and found one to make over.  I always love the work of Heather Pulvirenti (who is on a blogging break for a while) - she is one with a clean style, yet bright bold colors.  I gravitate towards those designs - but you know that already right???  So, this card of hers has been in my file for sometime (along with about 200 other cards!) and I finally decided, okay, I'm making it over!  Guess what - EASY PEASY!!!

Here is my card:

Almost exactly alike - right!  'Cept I stuck with SU all the way.  Yeah, those pearls are SU - I just colored them with a Sharpie marker, so, your right....we don't sell Sharpies.  Oops!!

I wasn't sure I like Heather's use of the green ribbon on her card, but when I added my Old Olive Grosgrain (retired - sorry!) it was like a match made in heaven!!!  FYI - the Hello comes from the Elementary Elegance Sale-A-Bration stamp set....I can't get a linky below for it.  And yes, I realize that it does not mean the same thing as Merci!

So....what do you think???  I'd REALLY like to hear some comments - your comments feed my motivation - just click on that little comment button at the end of this post and type away!!  :)

This was one of the cards we made this morning at the Appreciation....don't you love it?

Edited to add: Photo taken with my cell - don't mind the poor quality - you know better anyway right?  And those little buttons are actually pink.  Hmmm....must be what happens when your sweet lil' one year old throw your phone into a bucket of paint!  Just never works as well!!!
If you weren't able to make it to my Stamp Club Appreciation this morning, you missed making this beauty!!!!

Hostess Cards for February!

Howdy!  Ahhh....I know I haven't been around a whole lot here lately.  I'm sorry.  Somehow I've gotten myself into/onto some of our Church's committees and have been busy with meetings and getting things done for an upcoming Comedy Cabaret that we put on.  I printed 400 tickets today!!!  Now I've got to put a perforated line thru all of them and get them cut out, and stapled into groups of 8.  I think my super sweet hubby will becoming friendly with a stapler in the next day or so!  I did design the tickets in My Digital Studio, if that counts for anything!  :)  I also designed some bag toppers for Will's 6th Birthday Treats at school using MDS.  So quick and easy!!!

Anyway....I know,  You are here to see some creativity.  I'm going to show you a couple of cards that my February Hostesses are getting as a part of their hostess gifts.  I created 4 cards and a box to contain them, here are 2 of the cards:

Sorry for the not so wonderful photography - I was trying something new....wasn't so great.  Back to the drawing board there.

These cards and the box were all made with the Spring Fever Simply Scrappin' Kit.  The only thing I added on were Whisper White Cardstock and buttons.  Talk about economical!  Those kits get you a long way.  I still have lots of paper and stickers left over!

You're jealous right - wish you were hosting a party with me!  I still have a few spots open for March, and I can guarantee you that March hostesses will be treated well to!  Go ahead and contact me to be a hostess too - you'll get much more than what you see here.

Makeover Monday Week 6!

I know, I KNOW!!!  You've all been chomping at the bit wondering where my Makeover Monday card is!  You are liking this series - right???

Well, I've got to keep this short and sweet - I've got Valentine's that need finishing up - just a mere 40 of them.  UGH!  I've been so swamped, I had to put them off til today.  Thanks Goodness for my Silhouette!  It cut them all while I whipped up the card for today!

So here is today's card from Dawn McVey:

I alway in awe of her color choices, her bold style, and she throws it all together in a simplified way!  Swoon....
Here is the card I created using only SU products! :

The flower and hello come to you from the Posy Punch set, doily is from Hello Doily and the leaves are from Build a Blossom.  I was disappointed in the way my edging turned out on the white piece.  I used the Labels Framelit dies and the flower covered up the point.  I could have used the edgelits, but it wasn't going to show much either. OH well.  Lesson learned.  I think I would use the decorative label punch next time to come up with a squiggly edge.

Oh - in case your are wondering - that layer behind the flower - ya, it's SU too!!!  Just the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch and then I notched each scallop.  nifty huh???  I love the way that turned out.  A little more up to date than a plain scallop.

Whaddya think?  I'd love to hear - your comments keep me motivated!

Perk Up!

Meet today's card!  I was feeling like I needed to color a bit.  And this Morning Cup stamp set has been very neglected!

I do like to use my markers with watercolor paper. It just makes those colors way more blendable!  Hope you like!
