We had Christmas in July....

Christmas in July Card class that is! And today, I'm going to share the cards that we made so that you can see what you missed out on!!!

First up is one of my favorites - I just love the nostalgic look of these carolers in the A Christmas Carol set. I opted to only color the little boy. I wanted him to stand out among the rest - and it worked. He just looks like he's giving it his all!

I do think that next time I will use the music wheel in the background on this one! Is it just me tho - is the guy playing the bass a little on the creepy side???


Card #2:

Nothing really over the top here...but I do love the ruffled ribbon flirting out from under the sentiment section!

Card #3:

I was having a hard time incorporating that blue plaid that comes in the Letters from Santa DSP. I'm too traditional! In the end tho - I really like this card - almost the best. We used Irredescent Ice EP on the ornaments - it gave some extra pizzazz!

Card #4:

A little woodgrain, some snowflakes and a Merry Christmas!

Real stitching or faux? Faux it is! Some paper piercing does the trick on making it look really real!

Card #5

Clean, simple, and sparkly! Right up my alley - look ma - no DSP! OMGoodness and no buttons! What the....someone take my temp...I must be sick!

Sparkles on here were easy - some Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds. However, just hold onto your hats, because SU will have an even easier solution for this starting Sept. 1 - Dazzling Details!!! It comes in a little bottle - liquid glitter.....watch for it. I think you'll see a lot of it in your future.

Snowflakes stamed with Frost White shimmer paint - my stamp must have had some residual ink on it b/c it stamped a little on the Pink Frost White side???

Oh MY Magnets!

Well, I probably left ya hangin' this week, huh? Seems that my days never go as planned. *sigh* I wish I had a quarter for every time I get interrupted to help with potty duties, to hook up a wagon to a tractor or to break up a little scuffle....*sigh*! While I've been a stay at home mom or work from home mom for a year and 3 months now, it is truly the most difficult, frustrating job I've ever had. Yet, on the same hand, it's the most rewarding. So, I won't complain, but I just can't stick with a schedule to save my life. I even have my schedule posted on the refrigerator, broken down hour by hour.....I just get interrupted too many times, then am distracted...so, where am I going with this? Well, it's the reason this little project has taken me so long to complete, photograph and blog. Didn't help that my batteries were dead in my camera, as were my back up batteries. *sigh*

So, you wanna see the gem?








Hmmmm - What exactly is this??? Well, it's magnetic, can be used as a memo board. Could be used to display photos...they make acrylic photo holders w/ magnets on the back that would work ever so well. I'll be using mine as a memo board tho. Let's take a closer look, shall we?

See there - I've duded up a pad of sticky notes. Cuz, sticky notes are a necessity at our house, but they are quite boring! I also decorated a clothespin - they are quickly becoming my new fave accessory. I also used them on these bags. For more fun, I cut out some leafy magnets with the Big Shot and some of the new Magnet Sheets. Those magnets sheets cut like butter when using the Big Shot! And how adorable? I think some cute little packages of magnets would be super fun gifts for those hard to buy for people.....

Isn't that clothespin cute. It's there to hold whatever your heart desires - coupons, messages, photos....you name it. I think the whole thing is pretty darn cool. But, hold on, that's not it! No - really, there is more! Are you ready?

More adorable than the other! Again, I'm using mine as a memo board, so, another SUPER cute note pad. I added the "postcard" to this side for two reasons - 1) Will decided to glue a pumpkin on here, and when I pulled it off, it damaged the paper and 2)It needed some interest. While I love this patterned paper, it doesn't get your eyes moving around the page like the other paper.

Isn't that notepad sweet? The bow is attached to the pad with a paper clip, and then there is the clippy at the bottom to attach... whatever! And I couldn't do without a clothespin!

I did put Mod Podge on this side so that it wouldn't get too abused looking. I think I need a new jar of the stuff tho - normally it doesn't streak when it dries, and this time it kinda did. I did learn a lesson about Mod Podge and Craft Ink. The two do not work well together. I had stamped my snowflakes in Whisper White Craft Ink, and even tho they were very dry, they smeared when I used the Mod Podge. Next time I'll heat emboss with white ep instead!

A little Vintage Christmas...

Winter Post was by far my favorite stamp set last year, and I still love it this year - but for some reason I draw a blank when I try and figure out what to do with it. So, I kinda copied my card from last year, and just revamped it a bit....


I really like this image of the skaters. It's so nostalgic! I used to ice skate a lot, and loved it. Dorothy Hammill was my idol! While I never mastered much for spins or jumps - it was a great winter hobby. I even recall one VERY icy winter, we had a "pond" in our driveway, so I was able to ice skate in the driveway!!!


Overall, I like this card. I added the snowflake this year - which I layered - a Ruby Red snowflake underneath one that was punched out of the newsprint paper that comes in the Night & Day Specialty DSP. The image of the skaters was cut out with a Nestabilities die. I really roughed up the edges of the kraft postcard portion with the distressing tool on the Cutter Kit from Stampin' Up! I wanted it to look like it had been sent thru the ringer and was aged. And I really {heart} the twill ribbon - it's very, should I say, cooperative??? It just seems to lay well, to tie well, I can get a practically perfect knot - I think anybody can get a great knot with this ribbon!!! (Don't worry Stamp Club girls - I'll continue to tie knots for you!!!)

Stamp-A-Stack details:
When: October 25th 1pm - 4pm
Where: Denison Municipal Utilities Bldg
Fee: $15 per "stack" (10 cards) You will more than likely have plenty of time to make 2 stacks (20 cards)
Register and pay by: October 15th

The fee includes your cards, pre-cut and scored, and envelopes, plus use of my supplies. You just stamp and assemble.
