Regarding Dahlia - Card Idea

Somedays it's hard to come up with a new card idea, especially with a stamp that you use frequently in the same manner.

Take Regarding Dahlia for example.  I {LOVE} the flower in this stamp set.  Yet, it seems that every card I make with that flower looks relatively like the card I made the last time I used that flower!

So, I thought today, I'd go for a different look.  I didn't color the flower, it's not off to the side of the card. . .

Today, I used it as a BACKGROUND!  And I love the way that it turned out.

The bright colors help to add some pizzazz to the background so the card isn't overly dreary.

This card also works for the challenge over at The Paper Players this week.  In fact, it works in more ways than one!  Can you find them all?

This week we are going to create a bright, cheery, birthday card!  Perfect for the little love in my life that is about to turn 4 this week...

The only time consuming part of this card is the cutting of the sentiment banner.  And really - it's not that bad to cut at all.  Watch the video and you'll see how quick this Manic Monday card comes together.

Gettin' Geometrical!

Are you having a great weekend?

I've been feeling quite inspired this weekend....love when I feel that way.  Got to help some of my BFF's with some graduation decorations and held a card class with a great group of women that I really enjoy seeing!

Today's card was inspired by one that I saw over on Betsy Veldman's blog.  I was just so in awe over it, and thought I should recreate it with Stampin' Up! stamps/paper.

Isn't this a fun card?  I'm so pleased with the results - this is going to be one of the cards that will be in an upcoming fun folds class...I love it that much!  I can't wait to create more of these.

What do you think - wouldn't this be a fun one to receive in the mail??  Leave me some comment love, would ya?

Wedding Bells are ringing!!!

Spring means BRIDES and BABIES!

Today - let's talk about brides!

I had the honor of creating the wedding invitations for my sister-in-law and oh what fun it was!  And quite simple really.

Thanks to My Digital Studio (MDS).

She showed me a couple of invitations that she liked and I put several of the things she liked into one.

Here's the back of the invitation:

I really am liking this Artisan Cut that MDS offers now - keeping right up with the trends.  It really adds flair to the invite, making it not like all the rest.

I also created a reply, with the return address already printed on the back, that way it eliminates the need for an extra envelope, which sometime can get lost....at least in my house!

My next MDS project is some graduation decor for a couple of friends of mine that have graduates this year!  I'll be sure to share with you what I come up with!

Now - go stamp something!

Mosaic Madness...

Are you ready to have a great day?
Maybe your day has been great already?

Whatever the case - it's a great day to have a great day!!!

For today's card I used the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch!  I already had Mosaic Madness out on my table, so thought I'd challenge myself a bit for this one.

The only change I would have made to this, would be to change the card base color.  It needs to be more springy!  Maybe Pear Pizzazz or Coastal Cabana??  I was trying NOT to use the same ol' colors that I always do...maybe I should have stuck with my gut???

Anyway....go on and have yourself a great day!  And stamp something while you're at it!

Introducing.....Three Way Thursday!!!!

Hey there friends!  I've got a new series I'd like to share with you today....  Three Way Thursdays!

No....don't read into that in any other way other than stamping!!!  I just couldn't come up with another name that conveyed what I was doing here.  I mean, Threesome Thursday would have been worse!!!  *chuckle*

In this series, I'll be showing you three different cards/projects using one stamp set.  Hopefully it will help YOU to reach out and find other things to do with your stamp sets, give you more inspiration, etc.

This week, I decided to use the Countless Sayings 2 set.  It's pretty versatile itself, since it's made up of mostly words.

The first card I created:

1) Create your opening in the top Basic Gray layer, then mark that area on your card base.
2) Stamp the "Happy" sentiment on the card base and also on a piece of designer paper.  Trim the designer paper and glue on top of the card base.  Stamp "Birthday" in Gumball Green.
3) Emboss the Basic Gray piece.  Add strips of Bermuda Bay that have been die cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits.  Adhere to card front.

This one works great for the male recipients in your life.  It's not too girly - I left off the bows and buttons that I had thought of using.  Which, in turn, also makes this a good mailer!  However, add some ribbon and you can "chic" this up in a jiffy!

Here's my second card:

This one exudes sweetness....wouldn't you say?

1) Create card base from Melon Mambo.
2) Stamp "Sweet" with versamark and heat emboss with White Embossing Powder.  Stamp "You're So" above sweet in Island Indigo.
3) Draw a light pencil line across the center of the "Sweet".  Trim off the bottom portion.
4) Use a Melon Mambo marker to fill in the wide areas of the word sweet.
5) Adhere a piece of designer paper from Gingham Garden to the back of the card front.  Attach a strip of Delicate Details Lace Tape to the bottom of the DSP.
6) Add a bow to the top using Daffodil Delight Seam Binding.

Now send this to someone Sweet!!!

Okay - last card for the day:

For this card, I married the Countless Sayings set with the Mosaic Madness set.

1) Create card base from Basic Gray.
2) Stamp the Hugs, &, Kisses in Stazon Jet Black.  The stamps are clear, so you can make them all look like they are connected because you can see where you are stamping!
3) Stamp the mosaic pattern - I used Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Pool Party.  Stamp the border in Bermuda Bay.
4) Adhere to card front, add rhinestones!

This one could qualify for a masculine card too.... maybe omit the gems.  Candy dots would be a good replacement.

What do you think?  Do you ever struggle with what to do with a particular stamp set?  Which one(s)? Leave me a comment - and I may just use that set in the future.  If I do - I'll send you the cards that I create!

Freshly Made Sketches Play Along!

I decided to play along with the crew over at Freshly Made Sketches again this week.

This one kind of stumped me a bit, and my end product didn't quite turn out the way I wanted it to, so I may try again....MAYbe!  Like I said, the sketch stumped me a bit...

Here's the sketch:

Looks simple enough - right??

Sometimes MY problem is that I get it set in my head what stamp set I want to use, and then it just doesn't seem to work out the way I envisioned it!

For this card - I pulled out the new-ish Photopolymer Set from Stampin' Up! - Sans & Stripes.  I hadn't inked up the set at all and wanted to do something fun with it.

So, I tested the word SPRING on a piece of scrap paper using both the solid and striped alpha images.  Bleh - didn't like it.  Then I opted for just the solid - and in "Shine".  It was better.

I used a scrap that I die cut with my Silhouette (using one of the sunburst images) to sponge on the yellow rays. - that worked great!  Then I took the line image that comes in Sans & Stripes to stamp the line over the rays.  That seemed to add just what the rays needed.

I intended to use a spiral flower on the card - but I wasn't feeling it once I placed it there.  I had these Petite Petals images already stamped and punched on my desk from another project and decided to put them to good use.

In the end, the card turned out ok.

Sorry about the off photo - it was gloomy in Iowa today.....and tomorrow sounds worse - we are expecting snow.  UGH!!!!  Mother Nature needs something for her mood swings, I tell you what!!! Monday, Aubrie wore shorts because it was 73.  Today - we're in sweatshirts again. To top it off, we could end up with 3-4 inches of snow by Friday morning.  I'm so over winter, it's not even funny!

Alright - enough complaining about the weather!  Soon I'll be upset that it's so hot!  Can't win in Iowa!

Have a fab day everyone!

Manic Monday - week 12

Ever have a weekend that just completely wore you out?  That was mine!

We spent Friday and Saturday cooking, cleaning and prepping for Will's First Communion.  It was a great day - the sun was shining, and it was warm.  We were blessed with a house full of family and good friends.  My heart was overflowing!  But on Sunday.... this girl was TIRED!  And Monday too....

In fact while editing my Manic Monday video, I fell asleep numerous times!  You know that's when it's time to just call it a night!  Must be a sign of old age??

Speaking of Manic Monday....you'd probably like to see what I created?

This week I decided to play along with the gals over at Retro Sketches.   Here's the sketch:
