You Brighten My Day - Stampin' Up! Sale-a-Bration

While it's colder than cold outside....I'm inside (with my space heater warming my feet!) creating cards in fun springy colors!  At least I can create in spring.....right!  That's where I find myself torn.  I'd still like a good snowstorm, but I'm really ready for some warm spring weather.

We'll just see what Mother Nature has in store for us - in the meantime, I'll continue to create in spring colors.

Today's card is one of those spring influenced cards.  This one has my new fave patterned paper - I'm particularly in love with this paper.  It's fun and flirty, and well....I just love it, ok!  :)

You can earn the Best Year Ever DSP FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration.  Same goes for the stamp set that I used.  And the phrase on the front is perfect for year-round thank yous.

Pair all of this up with some sparkly sequins, and you've got a great card!

How to Create a Subtle Color Wash with Stamps

Hey there!  Anyone else head over heals for the Painted Petals Stamp Set?  I'm sure I'm not the only one....I really love that we can get so many different looking flowers with this set, and all are gorgeous!
I also love this card that I made the other day: Inspired by Shelli

Today I used the same technique, just with a different color palette.   The colors react differently when spritzed with water, and it shows better on the Inspired by Shelli card.  But I really like the way these colors are muted and softer when spritzed.

Hopefully you can see in the photo, that this card uses Shimmery White Cardstock.  Sometimes I forget about that cardstock, and it's SO pretty.  I've moved it to a new spot in my craft room so that I remember to use it more!

Wondering how to create this?  I've created a video so you can see, but really the technique is quite simple.  Just stamp your images on shimmery white cardstock and spritz with water.  Not too much water, and one key - don't let your ink dry too much before you spritz.  Otherwise it doesn't run.

Here's the video:

Creation Station: Celebrate Today!

Hello!  Welcome to another creative inspiration journey with the Creation Station!  This week we are here to inspire you with the Celebrate Today set, and all things birthday!

This ties in perfect with my day!  Today we are celebrating my son, Will's 9th Birthday!!!  We actually celebrated last night with family!  Today will just be us, but we'll make it special!

But, for now.....let me show you what I've created for you today.

I wanted a card where the balloons look like they are floating in air, so I went with a card base made out of a window sheet.  I started by placing the balloons on the front where I wanted them.

The problem with creating a card on a window sheet, is that you don't have a place to write on the inside.....Problem solved:

I inlaid the balloons so that they were flat, and this created a panel that I could stamp an interior sentiment (from Hooray It's Your Day) and it also gave me room to write.  I also did this to cover up the back side of the balloons that are on the front of the card.  (I didn't want the glue and dimensionals to show), then I repeated this again on the back of card:

All of these extra balloons line up with each other so that when the card is closed, you only see the balloons on the front of the card!

Clever, eh?

To be even more inspired, continue on the Creation Station Journey to see what the other talented members have in store for you!

Best Day Ever and Best Year Ever!

Are you loving all of the wonderful Sale-A-Bration items?  I seriously can't get enough of them.

Today's card is one that I cased from Ronda Wade, but I put my own little twist on it.  I don't mind CASEing (copy and share everything), but I do believe that you should make it your own some how.  What I did with this differently than hers, I stamped that bitty flower in the Aquamarine Color Box Ink.  *love*  That flower is my fave!  I also decided that because of the flowers that this needed a little softer embossing.  Ronda's used the striped embossing folder, but I opted for the Perfect Polka Dots EF.  It reminded me a bit of a sweet little swiss dotted fabric.

Anyway....this was one of the cards that we created at my team's Monthly Inspiration Night.  I think it's just a lovely card.

Hope you enjoy it - sorry for the quick post....have had a day of running....and I'm not done running just yet!
